Tourist attractions & region

You will be able to find a variety of attractions and sight-seeing spots in the vicinity that will provide an interesting time – even when the weather does not play along.

At first, the Odenwald region comes to mind. You may ask: What’s that? Well, you probably looked directly at it each and every morning you have spent here! The undulating hills of the Odenwald with its high point Veste Otzberg – a medieval fortress – invite you to take a long bike or car ride through Groß-Umstadt, Bad König, Michelstadt, Fänkisch-Crumbach and Reinheim. Climbing atop the Veste Otzberg is always worthwhile because you will even see as far as Frankfurt including its impressive skyline!

Darmstadt provides mostly cultural sight-seeing: Mathildenhöhe, Jugendstilbad, Hochzeitsturm, Hundertwasserhaus to name but a few.

In Frankfurt you will experience a bustling metropolis: Römer, Paulskirche, Kaiserdom, Museumsufer, Sachsenhausen, Bank district, Palmengarten and much, much more.

The UNESCO world heritage Grube Messel is not even 10 km (or 6 miles) away from us and can be highly recommended if you’re interested in Palaeontology!

Or you could head the other way into the Taunus region north of Frankfurt. There you will encounter Hesse’s second highest elevation – Großer Feldberg at 880m (or 2900 ft) above sea level. With a bit of luck, there will still be some snow up there…

Lastly, you could spend a lovely summer’s evening at the riverside of the Main in Seligenstadt. Some say, not only the church St. Marcellinus & Petrus but also the ice cream vendors attract large amount of tourists in the summer
